6th Grade Debates Challenging Authority

It was such a beautiful day yesterday we could not resist having class outside. The class sat on a bench and read the story of how the Jews did not trust in Moses and G-D when they were told to enter the promise land. Through this story we talked about challenging authority and whether or not the Jewish people should have challenged G-D. The group was excited to talk about times in their lives when they have challenged authority and both of my classes agreed that there are times when it is both appropriate and inappropriate to stand up for what you believe in. The class ended with a three way debate. One group was the Israelites who were saying that G-Ds punishment of having them wander through the desert for forty years was unjustified. Another group was Moses and the final group was G-D. This three way debate was neat to watch and hopefully it showed that there are multiple perspectives to every story. There was great participation by all and hopefully the weather will stay beautiful so we can have class outside more often!

Hello, our names are Lucy Campbell and Corey Jacobson. we are students in 6E, including Liron's second period class. Today we played the eraser game. The eraser game is a when we read a prayer and if someone successfully reads something, they get to slide an eraser across the chalkboard. Wherever it lands on, that's how many points they get for their team. If someone said the prayer incorrectly the other team can steal the points! Today we are using the prayer Ashrei that we will be needing to know for our Bar or Bat mitzvah. keep reading our blog!

Today, Father Cunin, priest of Brandise University came in Waltham, MA. He talked to us a lot about Christianity and the history of it. For instance, how Jesus started Christianity, and the relationship between Jews and Christians. Because of this experience we learned so much of a different religion and it is a memory I will never forget.
