Did you know that about 66% of Israel is made of desert??
Did you also know you can't starve in the desert? Because of all the sand which is there, of course.
Corny jokes aside... yesterday, my 7th grade art class learned about the geography of Israel and some of its features. Then we made our own "sand portraits" of Israel. Some students chose to make the Israeli flag, while other focused on the desert and the Mediterranean Sea.
These very cool portraits, and the facts we learned before we made them, will be the basis of what we learn about Israel for the rest of this course. Shanah Tova 7th grade!
