Today in TELEM class we talked about poverty and tzedakah. We talked about the smallest victims of poverty; the children. Students were shocked to find out just how many children go without food, and that many of them come from homes where parents are working. We talked about tzedakah being a mitzvah, a commandment, and that in the Torah it talks about people giving 10% of their income to tzedakah.
Next week, we'll be going to First Parish. It is so wonderful to see our students working so hard to help those who come to have a meal. And the guests at First Parish love seeing our kids there!
