What's in a Name??

Today in sixth grade we started a discussion of Lech Lecha. We read straight from the Tanakh of when  Abram and Sarai became Abraham and Sarah. We contemplated why God would change their names, and why Abraham and Sarah were okay being 100 years old and willing to pick up their lives because someone told them to! We then made name collages about what our names and nicknames are, and what we hope to be known as in the future!

Tuesday Night Madness!

The Cooking class got crazy last night with a Top Chef cook off. They were asked to research Jewish recipes and begin to understand what was Jewish about those foods. The winning recipe? Humantaschen!

Overheard on Facebook: "This is the highlight of my week!"

Wealth? Land? Children?

In sixth grade Judaica we discussed the three things God promised Abraham: wealth, land and children. We discussed the value of these resources in the time of our Forefather Abraham and in our current society. To finish up the class we divided into groups and had to come up with a creative way to show why their group, either wealth land or children, was the most valuable to Abraham. Here is class 6D's "Wealth Rap!"
