Trees of our Lives

Today classes 6D and 6E started their year-long conversation about Torah by looking at the similarities between the Torah and trees. It is often said that the Torah is like a tree of life, so we started the class by creating trees of our lives. Each student picked 10 pieces of paper that were values or activities that are important to them. Then they had the opportunity to place these values on their own tree. Students had to decide which value would be the “roots” of their tree, “trunk” of their tree etc. We then shared our creations and talked about how our “trees” hold our individual values the Torah holds many values of the Jewish people. It was a fun way to open up conversation and introduce Torah. What would you put on your own “Value Tree?”
