How Would YOU Feel?

In my sixth grade class last week, we looked at the story of Abraham and Isaac, specifically the Binding of Isaac. All of the students had heard of the story before, most recently at Rosh Hashanah. We talked about how it would have felt to be Isaac, not knowing where his dad was taking him, and for what purpose. We decided to do some trust walks on the playground to see if we could re-enact how Isaac may have felt. We had a ton of fun doing different types of trust walks, but came to the conclusion that this was probably pretty different than how Isaac felt. We left class with some questions about what Abraham and Isaac could have talked about on the walk down from the mountain, and what Sarah was feeling during this time.

My classes are so insightful, and it's wonderful to see how excited they get to learn about the Torah! We do spark pages at the end of each class to help them parse out the important pieces of the story in the hopes to help them when their Bar and Bat Mitzvahs come around, and they have really embraced this part of class!
