For our opening weeks in Hebrew, we have been reviewing and brushing up on t'filot (prayers) that were learned in previous years in religious school. The kids are pleased with their progress - and it is great to see them helping and supporting one another in their reading. Beginning next week, we will be moving into Mitkadem (the Hebrew reading program), where the students will be picking up where they left off last year, each according to his/her level. The goal is to perfect reading - to aim for fluency and comfort with looking at text that is familiar, and text that is not familiar. It is clear that these students are aware of how important their progress in reading is, given that within the next year or so, they will be preparing for their b'nai mitzvah! I'm glad to be able to be part of the journey with them.
Chag Sameach,
Mindy
